Swim
Athletes will enjoy a fresh water swim in full view of spectators. International Distance racers will do a .6 mile loop. Sprint racers will do a shorter .3 mile loop. Half Iron participants will do two .6 mile loops.
Duathlon Run #1
Duathletes will run a quick 1 mile out-and-back next to the lake before jumping on their bikes.
Bike
The bike course is goes through rural areas of Miami-Dade County and the first 2 miles will be substantially improved from races at this location prior to 2021. New for 2022, Half Iron racers will now do an out-and-back course passing the bike course aid station 2 times at approximately miles 20 & 35. International & Sprint distance participants will do a shorter out and back courses. There are no aid stations for the shorter distances.
Run
The Half Iron run is a 2 lap out-and-back run through Larry & Penny Thompson Park. What about the animals? This year for the Half Iron, we are bringing the animals to YOU! We will have multiple exotic animal shows at the finish/awards area after the race so you can get up close and even hold some animals for a picture!
The new International Distance run consists of a full 5 miles on the Zoo Miami public pathway viewing animals! Way more than ever before! The International run is an out and back run totaling 6.2 miles.
The Sprint Distance run consists of 2 miles on the Zoo Miami public pathway viewing animals! The Sprint run is an out and back run totaling 3.1 miles.
